How Does a Hearing Aid Work?

A hearing aid is a small electronic device worn in or behind the ear to help improve hearing.

It consists of four key components:

  • Microphone: Captures sound waves from the environment and converts them into electrical signals.
  • Amplifier: Increases the power and loudness of the processed signals, making them easier to hear.
  • Receiver: Converts the amplified electrical signals back into sound and delivers them into the ear.
  • Battery: Powers the device, with options ranging from disposable batteries lasting 5-14 days to rechargeable ones.
